North Brookfield School Committee elects Grant as chair, hears district-future briefing

NORTH BROOKFIELD — May 11, 2026 — North Brookfield School Committee reorganizes with new leadership after spring elections. The committee unanimously elected Matthew Grant as chair, Nancy Waldron as vice chair, and Kristen Jandrande as clerk in consecutive 5-0 roll-call votes at its May 11 meeting, the first since three new members — Waldron, Michelle Thayer, and Michelle Petritas — joined following the town election. Superintendent Tim McCormick repeated a strategic planning presentation for the new members, summarizing six staff listening sessions he led in March and April at both school buildings that identified expansion of arts, shop programming, honors and AP courses, and dual enrollment as top staff priorities. McCormick said the district currently has 203 students on school choice out and 51 on school choice in, with nine new incoming applications in the prior week and a half; a community listening session was scheduled for the following evening, May 12, and a student survey was set to launch the same day as the next phase of the planning process.
