Millbury selectmen narrow a $1.6 million budget gap to $865,000 after a day of department cuts. Town Manager Clark told the board she, Chief Financial Officer Katie McKenna and Deputy Town Manager Nicole Valentine reviewed every budget line before asking department heads for recommended cuts, warning the town must stay within the state's 2.5 percent levy limit "or we're going to have to have some other serious conversations." The board also approved four liquor license changes, including a new all-alcohol license for Avio Ristorante, an Italian restaurant replacing the former Pizzeria Uno, and change-of-manager approvals for Red Robin International and the local Applebee's. In annual reviews, Police Chief Brian Lewis scored 4.75 out of 5 and Clark scored 4.4 out of 5, with board members crediting Clark for hiring a new finance director and reviving the capital improvement committee.
