Millbury Dog Owners Have Until July 1 to Avoid Late Registration Fee
With the July 1 dog registration deadline just three days away, town hall is urging residents to act before late fees kick in — a timely nudge as Millbury winds down a quiet Sunday heading into the Independence Day holiday stretch.
TOWN HALL
The town's most pressing reminder this cycle: dog owners have until Tuesday, July 1, to register their animals and avoid a late fee. Residents who have not yet completed registration can do so through the town at millburyma.gov.
Also still active from recent town announcements: the state's Central Region drought status was updated to "Significant" as of May 8, 2026, following a declaration by Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper. The designation affects water-use guidance for residents and property owners, and the town's posted information on the mosquito control program is relevant context for the summer season.
The Farmers Market at the Asa Waters Mansion, which returned June 18, continues its summer run with local vendors and live entertainment.
SCHOOLS
Shaw Elementary's main office is open this week on a summer schedule: Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Thursday, July 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. Families are encouraged to stop in to check the lost and found before the holiday break.
Separately, sixth-grade families at Shaw have an open registration window for the Nature's Classroom fall trip. Registration forms can be dropped off at Shaw during summer office hours or emailed to the school. The Elmwood Street School Council meets Tuesday, June 30.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Millbury Public Library's Summer Reading Program is underway, having kicked off the week of June 22 with a petting zoo event for younger readers on June 23 and a murder mystery evening for teens on June 24. All ages are invited to read, log hours, and earn prizes throughout the summer. Separate registration is required for special events. Full program details are available at millburylibrary.org.
Residents should note the library will be closed Saturday, July 4, for Independence Day.
