Mendon Select Board unanimously confirms viable aquifer at Providence Road as Phase 4 water study nears completion. Consultants Scott Salabucci and Dan Scott of Woodard and Curran told the board the multi-year water expansion study has confirmed a PFAS-free groundwater source on Providence Road capable of meeting the town's anticipated build-out demand, with the Phase 4 reports — including business planning and a draft source final report — due by the end of June. A Phase 5 grant application was submitted to Community One Stop for Growth the same day, and the town holds approximately $960,000 in federal community project funding through Congressman Auchincloss' office requiring a 20 percent local match.

The board also voted to go live July 1 with an OpenGov e-permitting portal for select board licenses, authorized the town administrator to sign documents for the town's Community Choice Power Supply aggregation program ahead of its September rate-guarantee expiration, and granted authority to execute an IT contract with World Band at $152,000 over three years pending town counsel review. Mendon currently pays what multiple officials called the highest commercial water rate in Massachusetts to the Hopedale system, which has contractual authority to cut service if the town does not pursue its own source.
