LUNENBURG — April 14, 2026 — Lunenburg Sewer Commission debates missing pressure line and out-of-district development inquiry. The commission, meeting April 14 at the Department of Public Works, heard from DPW staff member Bill Bernard that an as-built drawing documents a pressure line running to a shutoff at 100 Laurel Lane, but field crews digging at the location described in the drawing have found nothing — complicated by a telephone pole that appears to have moved sides of the road since the original installation in the early 2000s. Bernard said he will return to the site with a metal detector; if the line cannot be confirmed, the commission may owe the property owner a new stub connection because betterment fees were already paid. Separately, a developer who purchased a 14-acre parcel on Hawn Street came to the DPW asking about sewer access, not knowing the land sits outside the commission's service area. Commissioners noted that prior commission members had deliberately excluded large undeveloped parcels from the district as a growth-management tool and said any formal position would wait until the developer returns with actual plans.
