LUNENBURG — June 2, 2026 — Lunenburg Select Board sets August 8 special election to fill two open seats. The board voted unanimously at its June 2 meeting to hold the election after concluding that a proposed August 1 date left too little time — roughly nine days — for candidates to gather the required 50 signatures on nomination papers. Nomination papers are available now at the Town Clerk's office, with a submission deadline of June 20. The vacancies stem from the medical leave of member Amanda Moore and the May 22 resignation of Clerk Cesar Nizzolo. Chair Hilary Hunt also used the meeting to push back on social-media claims that Moore's condition was staged: "I assure you that Amanda's medical condition is very real, and suggesting otherwise is both inaccurate and inappropriate." The board additionally accepted Town Manager Heather Lemieux's first formal performance evaluation in three years — compiled by labor counsel from four individual board-member assessments — calling her first year "strong" while flagging communication style and staff engagement as areas needing continued growth.
