Library Wins $20,000 Grant for Food Literacy Program

ASHBURNHAM — Stevens Memorial Library has been provisionally awarded a $20,000 federal grant to launch a new food literacy program, while the town pushes through a week of road work on three corridors.

TOWN HALL Drivers should expect continued detours and delays through Friday as crews work on Harris Road, Stowell Road, and the Route 101 corridor, according to a town News Flash advisory posted July 13. The work is expected to run through July 17, and the town is urging residents to use alternate routes during that stretch.

COMMUNITY & ARTS Stevens Memorial Library has been provisionally awarded a Library Services and Technology Act grant of $20,000 from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners for a program called "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up." The grant will fund library programs and resources aimed at improving food literacy skills and quality of life for Ashburnham residents, library officials said.

The library also released its new Strategic Plan covering fiscal years 2026 through 2029. Library Director Jess Mynes's team said the plan builds on the foundation of the library's previous strategic plan, outlining updated objectives that emerged from conversations with library stakeholders.

COMING UP The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health will hold town nurse hours in Ashburnham on Tuesday, July 21, at 10 a.m. Ashburnham residents may also attend any of the health board's other scheduled visits in the region, according to the town's announcement.
