Library Lands $20,000 Grant for Food Literacy Programs

Town Hall closed out the week with routine infrastructure updates and a fresh call for residents to fill vacant seats on several town boards, while the Stevens Memorial Library highlighted a newly awarded federal grant supporting food literacy programming.

The town completed scheduled road work this week, with crews working on Harris Road on July 6 and Stowell Road on July 9, according to the town's News Flash postings. Officials also renewed a notice of town board vacancies, updated July 1, encouraging residents to review the list of open committee seats, which will remain posted until filled.

Separately, the Nashoba Associated Boards of Health announced its next town nurse visit for Tuesday, July 21, at 10 a.m., open to any Ashburnham resident regardless of scheduled time slot. The town's water conservation restrictions remain in effect through September 30, and the 2025 Annual Water Quality Report is now available for residents who want details on local drinking water testing.

The Stevens Memorial Library announced it has been provisionally awarded a $20,000 federal Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The grant, called "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up," will fund library programs aimed at building food literacy skills for Ashburnham residents of all ages.

The library also released its new FY26-FY29 Strategic Plan, outlining updated goals developed through conversations with library stakeholders, and continues promoting its Kanopy streaming service and transition from Overdrive to the Libby app for digital lending.
