Library Lands $20,000 Federal Grant For Food Literacy Program
The Stevens Memorial Library has been provisionally awarded a $20,000 federal grant to launch a food literacy initiative for residents, town sources said this week.

Town Hall's public notices this week center on seasonal and administrative matters. Water conservation restrictions remain in effect through September 30, 2026, under the town's outdoor watering rules, and the town's 2025 Annual Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report, is now available for residents to review. A notice of town board vacancies, last updated July 1, remains open, with several boards and committees still seeking volunteers to fill seats.

The Stevens Memorial Library has been provisionally awarded a Library Services and Technology Act grant of $20,000 from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners for a program called "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up." Library Director Jess Mynes's team said the funding will support programs and resources aimed at improving food literacy skills for patrons of all ages, part of the library's broader role as a community hub.
The library also continues rolling out its new FY26-FY29 Strategic Plan, which Trustees say builds on the previous plan's foundation with updated objectives shaped by conversations with library stakeholders.
Elsewhere on Town Hall's community calendar, a Nashoba Associated Boards of Health town nurse visit was held earlier in the month, part of a recurring schedule of health visits available to Ashburnham residents at locations across the region.
COMING UP
The outdoor concert "Finding Molly" is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, at 6 p.m. at Winchester Park, continuing the town's summer concert series. Summer fitness sessions also continue Mondays at 6 p.m. in Winchester Park. The Stevens Memorial Library's Board of Trustees meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m., with the next scheduled session falling in August.
