COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Rutland Free Public Library hosted a retirement celebration for Director Kerry Remington on Thursday, July 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., inviting residents to drop in and wish her well. The open house capped Remington's tenure at the library, located at 280 Main St., which recently adjusted its public hours amid budget restrictions.

Under the new schedule, the library is open Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays noon to 8 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Saturday service suspended between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The library's leadership team includes Assistant Director Tricia Lowe and Youth Services Librarian Aislinn Lewis, who continue to run ongoing programs including the Salty Seniors Book Group, Summer Reading Program, and Teen Advisory Board.
