Leominster Schools Post Bus Strike Alert Ahead of Fall Term

Leominster Public Schools has posted a prominent alert on its website flagging what it calls "the First Student bus strike," directing families to the district's transportation pages for updates as Fall Brook, Johnny Appleseed, Leominster High School, Northwest and Samoset finalize their busing plans for the coming school year.

SCHOOLS

The district's homepage currently carries a banner reading "Important information regarding the First Student bus strike," linking out to updated summer and fall busing pages for five schools. No additional detail was posted publicly beyond the notice itself, but its placement at the top of the district site signals the issue is active as families prepare for the new school year.

Separately, Bennett Preschool has opened its waitlist for tuition based peer slots for the 2026-2027 school year. Children must turn three years old by or before Aug. 31, 2026, to join; families can call the preschool office at 978-534-7704 for details.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Leominster Public Library has added a new evening talk to its August lineup: "Along Route 1: Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts" runs Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Younger patrons get a new science offering Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., when High Touch High Tech of New England presents "Weather or Not." The library also has a Movie Thursday pairing, a screening of "In the Heights" with a craft session, set for Thursday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m.

COMING UP

The city's National Night Out event takes place Tuesday, Aug. 4, as part of the annual community policing celebration held at locations across Leominster.
