Leominster Schools Post Alert on First Student Bus Strike
Leominster Public Schools posted a prominent alert Monday about a First Student bus strike, while the public library kicked off the post-July 4th week with a full day of programs for children, teens, and adults.

Leominster Public Schools posted an important notice on its homepage about a First Student bus strike affecting district transportation. First Student is the district's transportation contractor, serving its 14 schools. No additional detail was available in materials published Monday; families are directed to the district's website at leominsterps.org for updates.
Separately, the district announced that the waitlist for tuition-based preschool peer slots at Bennett Preschool for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. Children must be age 3 by Aug. 31, 2026; interested families can call 978-534-7704.
Registration for the Creative Choices Before and After School Program for the 2026-2027 year opens Wednesday, July 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Space is limited, and families should check their student's elementary school page for details.

The Leominster Public Library opened the post-holiday week with a packed Monday schedule. Children and teens started the morning with Aquapuffs! 3D Art That Puffs to Life! from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by The Reptile Nook Walk-Through Program from 2 to 4 p.m. Evening programs included the Leominster Writing Group from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Chess Club from 7 to 8:45 p.m.

The library's summer schedule continues Tuesday, July 7, with an English Conversation Class from 10 to 11 a.m.; BINGO Blast! for kids and teens from 10 a.m. to noon; Buildwave, a building experience for kids and teens, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.; Teen Tournament Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m.; and an Alzheimer and Dementia Caregiver's Support Group from 6 to 8 p.m. On Thursday, July 9, the Brown Bag Book Group takes up John Grisham's "The Guardians" from noon to 1 p.m.
Creative Choices before-and-after-school program registration opens Wednesday, July 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. — space is limited.
At City Hall, two continued Planning Board public hearings — matters P 62-26 and P 69-26 — are set for Monday, July 13. The city has a Semi-Final Soccer Watch Party on Wednesday, July 15, Bohemian Night at Carter Park (Noche Bohemia) on Saturday, July 18, and a Final Soccer Watch Party on Sunday, July 19.
