Leominster Opens Downtown Public Parking Garage

Leominster's new downtown public parking garage is open, giving residents and visitors added access to the city's business district as officials also pushed updates on flood-recovery infrastructure work and school registration.

The Downtown Public Parking Garage has officially opened, the city announced, adding capacity for the business district. City Hall also posted continuing updates on the Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project, part of the city's ongoing infrastructure and flood-mitigation work, and the Community Development office released new guidance outlining the parameters for operating a home-based business in Leominster.

SCHOOLS

Leominster Public Schools has opened the waitlist for tuition-based peer slots at Bennett Preschool for the 2026-2027 school year. The program is open to Leominster residents only, and children must turn three by Aug. 31, 2026, to qualify. Families interested in the waitlist are asked to call the Bennett Preschool office at 978-534-7704.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Leominster Public Library's Hikes Through History program leads a walking tour Wednesday, July 22, from 6 to 7 p.m. The Toe Jam Puppet Band performs for kids Tuesday afternoon, and the library's free outdoor Downtown Sounds concert series continues with shows Friday and Saturday, July 24-25, plus an additional date July 31.

COMING UP

The Cemetery Commission meets Tuesday, July 21. Sholan Farms hosts its Cruising and Crops festival Wednesday, July 22, and a Starbucks ribbon-cutting is set for Thursday, July 23. At the library, the Chess Club returns July 27, and English Conversation Class meets Tuesdays at 10 a.m., including July 21 and 28. Children's and teen programming continues through the week with craft, mosaic and painting sessions, along with a family movie afternoon Thursday, July 23.
