Hubbardston Select Board hires assistant treasurer-collector, tightens snow-plow enforcement

HUBBARDSTON — January 20, 2026 — Hubbardston Select Board hires assistant treasurer-collector and authorizes snow-removal warning letters. The board voted 4-0 with one abstention at its January 20 special meeting to offer the assistant treasurer-collector position to Christine Bumpus Clark at $23 per hour for 32 hours per week, with a start date no earlier than February 2, contingent on a reference check and bonding eligibility. In a separate 4-0 vote with one abstention, the board directed that formal written warnings be sent to roughly a dozen residents and contractors who plowed snow into public roads during recent storms, with Police Chief Coocher signing the letters and the town clerk's office tracking compliance — a stopgap until a bylaw amendment can be placed on the next Town Meeting warrant. The board also heard that a fire-truck debt exclusion, omitted from prior DE1 filings, will appear on residents' tax bills for the first time next fiscal year alongside two other approved debt exclusions, with specific dollar figures expected at the January 26 meeting.
