Fitchburg Extends Landfill Sticker Deadline, Declares New Tourism District

FITCHBURG — Fitchburg City Hall pushed back the deadline to buy this year's landfill stickers to September 30 and posted formal notice of the organization of a new tourism marketing district, according to notices on the city's website this week.

The city has extended the window for residents to purchase this year's landfill stickers, moving the deadline to September 30, according to an emergency alert posted to fitchburgma.gov.

The city also posted formal notice of "the declaration of the organization of the Fitchburg Tourism Destination Marketing District," per fitchburgma.gov. The posting did not detail the district's boundaries or governance beyond the declaration itself.

A bilingual notice on the city's website — headlined in Spanish, "Cambios en el Lugar de Votación" ("Changes to the Voting Location") — alerts voters to a change affecting their polling place. Separately, Fitchburg and Leominster are collecting public feedback on a joint Housing Production Plan, with design concepts and a recording of a Public Involvement Meeting posted online for residents who want to weigh in.

SCHOOLS

Fitchburg Public Schools finalized its fiscal 2027 budget book, posting the final version to the district's website. The district also highlighted three newly adopted policies: a Competency Determination Policy, a Fitchburg High School Career and Technical Education Recruitment, Admissions, and Retention Policy, and a Middle School Pathway Exploration Policy. The district additionally published a fact sheet on its 2026 credit recovery program.
