FITCHBURG -- The city of Fitchburg has posted a formal notice declaring the organization of a Tourism Destination Marketing District, marking a new institutional step for visitor promotion, while Fitchburg Public Schools released its fiscal year 2027 final budget book for a district serving more than 5,000 students.

TOWN HALL

A notice of declaration for the organization of the Fitchburg Tourism Destination Marketing District appeared on the city's official website, representing a formal move to create a dedicated structure for promoting Fitchburg to visitors and supporting the local tourism economy. No additional details about funding mechanisms or district boundaries were contained in the posted notice.

Residents who use the city's landfill got a reprieve: the town's emergency alert confirms that yearly landfill stickers have been extended through September 30, giving residents additional time past the original deadline.

The city has also posted a notice, headlined in Spanish as "Cambios en el Lugar de Votación", indicating that voting locations have changed. Residents should verify their assigned polling place before the next scheduled election; information is available at fitchburgma.gov.

Downtown infrastructure work continues to progress; the city is tracking updates under its Intown Downtown Infrastructure Updates page at fitchburgma.gov.

SCHOOLS

Fitchburg Public Schools has posted its 2026-2027 budget book, listed on the district website as the final budget. The district serves more than 5,000 students across its schools. The district also issued a notice of intent to shred certain student records, a routine administrative records-management action. Both documents are available at fitchburg.k12.ma.us.
