Downtown parking garage opens, FY27 budget posted for review
LEOMINSTER — The city's new Downtown Public Parking Garage is now open, and Mayor Dean Mazzarella's office has posted the fiscal 2027 budget for public review, according to the city's website, as Leominster Public Schools flagged a bus-service disruption ahead of the fall semester.
TOWN HALL The Downtown Public Parking Garage has opened, the city announced, adding parking capacity in the downtown business district. City Hall, at 25 West Street, is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours until 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
Separately, the city posted Mayor Dean Mazzarella's proposed fiscal 2027 budget for residents to review, along with a set of frequently-asked-questions pages covering home-business rules and the Flamingo Express program. The city also continued to post updates on the Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project, a multi-phase infrastructure effort the city has been tracking on its website.
SCHOOLS Leominster Public Schools posted a notice on its homepage directing families to information about "the first student bus strike," though the district's site did not detail the scope or timing of the labor action. Families with questions about transportation should watch the district's bus-information page for updates.
The district also revised summer busing schedules for several schools this week, including Leominster High School and Johnny Appleseed Elementary, both updated July 10, along with Fall Brook, Northwest and Samoset elementary and middle schools.
Bennett Preschool opened its waitlist for tuition-based peer slots for the 2026-2027 school year. The program is limited to Leominster residents, and children must turn three by Aug. 31, 2026, to qualify; families can call the Bennett Preschool office at 978-534-7704.

At the Leominster Public Library, kids can build a Paracord Survival Bracelet on Friday, July 17, in two sessions, 9:30 a.m. to noon and 2 to 3 p.m.
