Agricultural Commission · Meeting of August 11, 2026
BERLIN — The Berlin Agricultural Commission voted to seek repair estimates for a leaking plumbing tank in the garden shed and approved small reimbursements. Laura Busky, who handles the commission's finances, reported combined budget and donation accounts of $9,506.09, pending confirmation of a $5.09 utility discrepancy. Members approved $15.99 for a replacement garden hose and up to $25 to reimburse a gardener, Mary, for straw and stakes, both unanimously.
The commission also voted unanimously to pursue plumbing repair estimates after the Highway Department said it could not fix a leaking tank. Busky said outgoing Town Administrator Jeff questioned whether the garden's roughly $8,161 donation account can fund gardener education programs without donor-specified earmarks, calling the issue unresolved: "We have to get it straightened out." Two people visited the garden recently asking for food, one from Worcester.
