BERLIN — The Berlin Historical Commission pressed for changes to a draft collection-management policy and raised concerns about being sidelined on a stalled house preservation project. Custodian Barry Eager said the draft omits the Berlin Art and Historical Society, which funded a $2,000 computer, PastPerfect software and $25,000 toward the historic house purchase. A member described an August 10 site visit with preservation architect Jerry Sullivan of Westboro, who has been verbally hired to assess the building; a member said officials were "essentially giving him the orders" without commission input.
The panel set an August 31 Select Board meeting to air its objections and noted a Community Preservation Act application deadline moved up to October 31 after the November 1 meeting was canceled for Election Day. Fiscal year 2025 brought $129,000 in CPA money to the historical account.
