City Hall Shuts Friday for Independence Day; Trash Pickup Runs on Schedule
City Hall will be dark this Friday, July 3, as Leominster observes Independence Day — but residents can head to the library or the downtown parking garage for summer activities starting Tuesday.

City Hall will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. The city notes that curbside trash and recycling collection will proceed on its normal schedule with no delays, so residents should put bins out as usual.
The downtown public parking garage is open, according to the city's homepage, a convenience for residents heading into the center this summer. The FY 2027 Mayor's Budget is also posted on the city website for public review.
Looking a bit further ahead, two continued public hearings — P 62-26 and P 69-26 — are scheduled for Monday, July 13.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Leominster Public Library has a packed start to July. On Tuesday, July 1, children can take part in a "Plush Pet Adoption: Llamarama!" event at 9:30 a.m. and again at 3 p.m., while young artists can join art instructor Linnea Romhanyi for a painting session using natural materials from the kitchen and nature at 10 a.m. Teens are also welcome at that painting program, and the Teen Writer's Club meets at 5:30 p.m. the same evening.
On Thursday, July 2, kids and teens can attend "Playful Engineers: Chain Reactions and Creative Contraptions!" from 2 to 3:30 p.m., and teens can catch a Minecraft Movie and Craft event from 4 to 6 p.m. Also on July 2, adults are invited to "Old Glory, New Glory: The History of the American Flag" from 6 to 8 p.m. — well-timed ahead of the holiday weekend.
Coming up the following week, the Leominster Writing Group meets Sunday, July 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Chess Club follows the same evening from 7 to 8:45 p.m., and an English Conversation Class runs Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m.
The city has also announced a Bohemian Night at Carter Park (Noche Bohemia) on Saturday, July 18, and two soccer watch parties — a semi-final on July 15 and the final on July 19.
