City Hall Closes July 3 for Independence Day; Trash Pickup Unaffected

City Hall will be dark this Friday, July 3, as Leominster observes Independence Day — but residents should note that curbside trash and recycling collection will run on its normal schedule with no delays. The Leominster Public Library, meanwhile, has a full slate of children's programming on deck for Monday.

TOWN HALL

City Hall will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. The closure applies to municipal offices, but the Department of Public Works confirmed there is no corresponding delay for rubbish and recycling pickup — curbside collection continues as scheduled.

Residents with time-sensitive permit needs or payment questions should plan accordingly, as normal City Hall hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday until 5:30 p.m.) resume Monday, July 6.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet Tuesday, July 1, the next public meeting on the city calendar.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Leominster Public Library is capping the month with a pair of back-to-back events Monday, June 30. Kids and teens can drop in for Fairy Houses from 10 a.m. to noon, then return for the Save the Bay Touch Tank Experience from 2 to 4 p.m. — a hands-on marine life program running the same afternoon.

The programming continues through the week. On Wednesday, July 2, the library hosts "Old Glory, New Glory: The History of the American Flag" from 6 to 8 p.m., a well-timed lecture ahead of the holiday. Adult learners can also join an English Conversation Class on Monday, June 30, from 10 to 11 a.m.
