Planning Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Westborough's Planning Board sent a rewritten downtown zoning bylaw back to town meeting after an earlier notice error, and approved a contested three-home subdivision on Ruggles Street. Assistant Town Planner Kristen Belanger said the attorney general flagged that a hearing notice ran seven days instead of the required 14, forcing the board to re-advance the downtown Business (BB) district rewrite as Article 7 for the October 19 special town meeting. The board unanimously approved the "Rugged Trails" subdivision at 228 Ruggles Street despite abutter Anton Abaya's objection that a stormwater trench sits too close to a protected wetland buffer; a board member said "we as a board have to rely on our experts." The board also continued a sewer-connection dispute at the 20-home Silver Hollow Estates subdivision, where fees run $2,500 per bedroom, and voted to shelve a "peanut" rotary redesign "at this time." Amazon's drone-delivery site plan was continued to November 10 pending a zoning appeal.
