Ashburnham Library Awarded $20,000 Federal Grant For Food Literacy Program

The Stevens Memorial Library has been provisionally awarded a $20,000 federal Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners to fund "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up," a new slate of programs aimed at improving residents' food literacy skills, Library Director Jess Mynes' staff announced this week.

TOWN HALL

The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health held its monthly Ashburnham town nurse hours Tuesday, July 21, at 10 a.m., with residents able to attend any of the health department's scheduled regional visits, according to the town's website.

Two longer-running notices remain in effect: the town's seasonal water conservation restriction, which runs from May 1 through September 30, and a standing notice of vacancies across multiple town boards and committees, most recently updated July 1, which the town says will stay open until filled.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The federal grant to Stevens Memorial Library, in its role as a community hub, will support programming designed to help patrons build lifelong food literacy skills as part of the library's broader mission, according to the library. The library said more details on "At the Table" programming are available on its website.

The library also pointed patrons this week to its newly released FY26-29 Strategic Plan, which the library says builds on its prior plan and reflects updated priorities gathered from conversations with library stakeholders.
