Ashburnham Closes Town Hall July 2, Transfer Station July 4 for Holiday Weekend

Ashburnham residents should plan around a pair of municipal closures before the Fourth of July weekend, with Town Hall dark on Thursday, July 2, and the Transfer Station shuttered on Saturday, July 4.

TOWN HALL

Two holiday-related service interruptions are in effect as the long weekend approaches. Town Hall will be closed Thursday, July 2 — the day before the holiday eve — and will resume its normal Monday-through-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule the following week. Separately, the Transfer Station will not operate on Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day; residents who rely on Saturday drop-off should plan to make their next trip the following week.

A standing notice on the town website also reminds residents that a water conservation order remains in effect through September 30, 2026. The town's board-vacancy list is still open as well, with several committees seeking appointed members; interested residents can find the full list on the town's official website at ashburnham-ma.gov.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Stevens Memorial Library continues to offer its full lineup of resources through the holiday week. The library — led by Director Jess Mynes — holds regular hours Monday through Thursday and Saturday mornings, with Friday and Sunday closures. Patrons looking for something to watch this summer can take advantage of Kanopy, the library's free streaming service offering more than 27,000 titles, accessible on any device with a library card.

The library also announced it has been provisionally awarded a $20,000 federal Library Services and Technology Act grant through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The grant, titled "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up," will fund programs and resources aimed at building food-literacy skills among Ashburnham community members of all ages.
