Finance Committee · Meeting of October 15, 2026

Westborough's town meeting moderator previewed four rule changes for Monday's Special Town Meeting during a Finance Committee briefing. John Arnold said speakers will be asked to front-load all questions within their two-and-a-half-minute turn, he will mix the speaking order among supporters, opponents and questioners, and he will relax the voters-only rule to let parents bring children into the overflow room since contracted child care ends at 9 p.m. The committee separately flagged concerns about a still-unfinished zoning bylaw tied to Article 8, estimated at five pages and 1,855 words, and noted a Zoning Board of Appeals hearing on the underlying project is set for November 2.

One member said the town needed to be "on solid legal ground" given the risk of a costly legal challenge. The committee approved its October 8 minutes 6-0 with one abstention and voted 7-0 to adjourn.
